Gangadharappa, age 50, and his wife Gangamma, age 40, harvest flowers outside their home in Gidadagalahalli village. Gangadharappa and his family have electricity thanks to the UNDP-supported BERI (Biomass for Rural India) project. Gangadharappa has 5 acres of land on which he cultivates flowers, mangos, bananas and teak among other crops. He received an irrigation kit from BERI without which he would not be able to grow flowers.
