Women use the time after an ijtema to discuss the strategy of "B" Teams which visit families that have not yet had their children vaccinated during the Unicef SIA (Supplementary Immunisation Activity - ie. the week of the polio round, 12-16th November 2006). The ijtema.was conducted by Ifat Bano in Machua ("Fisherman") Toli in Patna city. These regular meetings, at which health-care is discussed in the context of the Koran, have provided an opportunity for Unicef to introduce the subject of polio vaccination. The Machua community follow the Jamat-e-Islami Hind school of thought. The meeting was organised by Silsila (a religious NGO working on education and polio in the marginalised community). Sisila are a partner in Unicef's Polio campaign.
