Nistoli village, near Ghaziabad, the home of .Monika Dagar...Gaurav Saini and Monika Dagar met in 2006. The couple married on July 6th 2009. Aware that Monika's family disapproved of the relationship, neither Monika's or Gaurav's families were present at the wedding. Less than a week after the ceremony police, accompanied by Monika's family, raided Gaurav's parents house where the newly married couple were living together. Gaurav and Monika were separated. Gaurav was jailed for 32 days, accused of holding Monika without her consent. Judges have subsequently dismissed the charges against him. On his release from jail, Gaurav has not been able to locate his wife. Her family insist that she died of tuberculosis in September. A hearing on December 4th 2009 will decide whether a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) inquiry will be opened into police misconduct. Gaurav meanwhile continues the search for his wife who he believes is still alive. ..Photo: Tom Pietrasik.New Delhi, India.December 1st 2009
