A girl with her evening supply of water beside the Baroda village water pump...This Baroda village water pump was provided by UNICEF. The community is responsible for the monitoring of water quality and maintenance of the pump. The pump has a committee who fund quality control and maintenance by levying a charge of INR1 per month for each household that uses the pump. UNICEF has provided training for local women so that they can undertake minor maintenance repairs to the pump. UNICEF through its partners the Ramakrishn Mission has provided training for local women so that they can undertake minor maintenance repairs to the pump and has also provided them the tools for this maintenance.
