UNICEF work to encourage hygiene and good health practices among the women and children of Kanbhita through partners Mahila Samakhya...Mahila Samakhya is UNICEF's partner in eleven districts in Jharkhand. Mahila Samakhya work with Adivasi (tribal) communities in Ranchi district, encouraging good hygiene practices including handwashing and providing practical support for the construction of latrines in an area where two thirds of the population defecate in the open. Mahila Samkhya work with women's self help groups to encourage good waste water management and provide advice on wormi composting. Mahila Samakhya also work in schools and child residential centres, promoting hygiene and sanitation through staff training and the distribution of learning materials.
