Migrant labourers from the north Indian states of Bihar and Chhattisgarh work at a brick kiln in the Poorvideen Kheda neighbourhood of Lucknow, captial of Uttar Pradesh state. A lack of employment oportunities and caste discrimination that denies people access to land and social secutiy measures fuels labour migration - much of it seasonal - from poor rural areas to cities like Lucknow. Many of these migrants end up undertaking poor-paying and hazardous tasks at brick kilns.
