Administering the polio vaccination outside the Madrassa Abdul Salam in Pakbara town, Taspur Block, Moradabad. The clinic was inaugurated by Shamme Alam Shahar Imam (not photographed).
In September 2006, Pakbara town in Taspur Block achieved 86 percent polio vaccination coverage. For the November 12th BMCs (Block Mobilisation Coordinators) and CMCs (Community Mobilisation Coordinators) were aiming for above 90percent. With poor sanitation and overcrowded living conditions, Pakbara town is considered a high risk polio infection area. The population of Pakbara town is 40-50,000. In Taspur block there are four BMCs. Together they have informally labeled the November 12th round "Mission New Born". The next round will be "Mission X-R" with a focus on families refusing to have their children vaccinated.
